Microneedling Aftercare

Following instructions for post microneedling care will ensure the most comfortable recovery with the lowest risk of complications.

Any type of resurfacing treatment, such as microneedling, will make the skin more susceptible to hyperpigmentation when exposed to UV rays during the healing process. This is why avoiding sun exposure and using SPF is critical.

Keeping it simple by keeping the skin clean and hydrated will best support healing.

Hydration is so important afterward (and always) because water is essential to the collagen creation process.

Hard exercise that leads to increased body heat and sweating can lead to swelling and irritation to the skin, as well as potentially increased exposure to bacteria. Gentle movement is key during this time.

Active ingredients such as AHAs, BHAs, vitamin C, and retinol applied too soon after microneedling can cause chemical burns or over exfoliation and should be avoided for about 5 days. Use of mechanical devices such as a cleansing brush could result in problematic skin microinjuries. Use of devices like jade rollers or gua sha can cause too much irritation and increase risk of infection.

Make-up can be known to clog pores and harbor bacteria, which puts the freshly microneedled skin at increased risk of pore congestion and potential infection.
